Sunday the Rheo Thompson Tier 3 East Novice
Warriors played host to the Woodstock Navy Vets, they battled hard but came up
short late in the 3rd period.
The Warriors came out ready and prepared to battle hard. The first period was an example of what was to come for the remainder of the game. Both teams exchanged opportunities but Jake Taylor of the Warriors kept the boys tight only allowing 1 Woodstock goal. The defence consisting of Mason Bauld, Nash McIlroy, Charlie Holloway, Owen Vangestel and Henry Flanagan were determined to keep Taylor seeing as few shots as they could. Woodstock would add to their lead early in the 2nd with 2 quick goals, but Hudsyn Chaput answered back for the Warriors at the end of the period on a nice feed from Andrew Davis and Flanagan. Early in the 3rd, Hudsyn Chaput would pull the Warriors within 1 as he had an unassisted effort. The game remained 3-2 until the 5:13 mark of the 3rd period, with opportunities to tie the game from Rem Hruden, Holloway, Maddyx Chaput and Hudsyn Chaput putting it off the post but finally Woodstock found a loose puck and went on a 2-0 rush to beat Taylor. The Vets would add 1 more for a final score of 5-2. Finley Newton, Liam Benton, Ethan Priestap, Blake McIntosh and Will McKee demonstrated some of their best play up front this year. Hudsyn Chaput was named the Warriors player of the game
Then next action will see the Warriors head to Byron this weekend to participate in the West London tournament.
